OAE Podcast November 2011

The first podcast of the new season is jam-packed full of musical interest. We talk to Rachel Podger who direct two concerts with the OAE this October, with a programme titled ’1700s London and the Fab Four’, with the fab four being Haydn, Abel, Arne and JC Bach – she tells us more about this intriguing mix of composers. Then we’re onto everything eduction, as we meet OAE Education Director Cherry Forbes backstage at the Queen Elizabeth Hall where she tell us what she and the Education team get up to. Next up are the CD picks of our Co-Principal Keybard Player Steven Devine, including a VERY unusual take on Handel’s Messiah, and we round the podcast off with a look back to September, when Robert Levin joined us to play Mozart’s Piano Concerto No.23 – he tells us more about the piece and his approach to it.
