During the course of Kevin’s year living with the OAE he experienced a wide range of OAE activities. He had the opportunity to shadow and assist two of OAE’s Principal Artists: Vladimir Jurowski and Sir Simon Rattle. He also worked with our Emeritus Conductor Sir Roger Norrington. He attended rehearsals, concerts in London and had the opportunity to tour with the Orchestra to Paris, Luxembourg and Dublin.
In addition to all these orchestral projects Kevin conducted the Orchestra on a Don Giovanni Education Project in King’s Lynn this July, as well as spending a week in the OAE office observing the behind the scenes operations.
“I feel very happy and privileged to be given the opportunity to be part of this internationally renowned London orchestra, working with some of the greatest and musically interesting conductors of our time. I am very excited about the possibility to work with period instruments, something that makes this conductor’s scheme particularly attractive. The know-how and understanding in this field is vital to the learning process of any musician or conductor”
Kevin Griffiths, Young Conductor for 2010/11
