Haydn, working in an isolated corner of the Austro-Hungarian empire, created music that transformed the art of listening throughout Europe. Over the course of a new four concert series to be broadcast on BBC Radio 3, the Soloists of the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment bring their customary vigour and distinction to Haydn’s chamber music, including here two of Haydn’s suitably virtuosic, uniquely important piano trios.

Recorded for future transmission on BBC Radio 3.

Haydn Piano Trio in F sharp minor Op. 73 No.3
Beethoven Theme and Seven Variations on Bei Mannern from Mozart’s The Magic Flute
Mozart Sonata for Violin and Piano in E minor
Haydn Piano Trio in C Op. 75 No.1

Kati Debretzeni violin
Robin Michael cello
Petra Somlai piano
