Our new season starts in style with music from England’s favourite adopted composer, George Frideric Handel.
While he seems to have attracted a number of less than complimentary comments from fellow composers (Berlioz calling him ‘a barrel of pork and beer’), he’s never been received by anything less than acclaim here in London, with his Royal Fireworks remaining a favourite to this day. The rest of the programme features orchestral overtures and arias from French composer and Gamechanger, Jean-Philippe Rameau.
