This all-strings programme, led by the brilliant Richard Tognetti from the Australian Chamber Orchestra, contains a saucy surprise.

In this wide-ranging concert, the famed violinist Richard Tognetti leads the OAE in music ranging from the fresh and zesty Haydn through to the rich sonorities and melancholic beauty of Dvorak’s Serenade. Along the way there are works by Mendelssohn and Haydn as well as two intriguing miniatures – Elgar’s achingly beautiful Sospiri and Grieg’s intriguingly named Erotique.

Mozart Divertimento in F
Mendelssohn String Symphony No. 10 in B minor
Haydn Violin Concerto No 1 in C
Grieg Poème érotique
Elgar Sospiri
Dvorak Serenade for Strings

Richard Tognetti director/violin

OAE Extras at 5.45pm.  Queen Elizabeth Hall auditorium.
Free Admission.
An introduction to period string instruments, with members of the orchestra.
