The Night Shift is London’s unique classical night and this evening we downsize the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment for the first of 5 pub tour gigs across London in the build up to our dates at the Roundhouse on 24 February and Southbank Centre on 4 March.
With just three musicians on stage this is your chance to get up close and personal with some fantastic music. Tonight’s programme is ‘Best of British’ so we’ll be showcasing the music of baroque composer Henry Purcell – to include drinking songs…

Live sets at 8.30pm and 9.30pm with DJ sets from Bob Stanley (Saint Etienne) between and afterwards till late. Live sets presented by Jon Jacob.

“one of the best gigs I’ve been to in months!! 2 violins, 1 cello and ton of people in a pub listening to baroque music played live. Totally surreal and brilliant.” Audience Member

PLEASE NOTE CHANGE OF DJ!
Chris John will now play 31 Jan, George Tavern, instead

Limited tickets are now only available on the door.

  • Don’t put me on any mailing list.
I heard about this on Today R4, and looked at your website to see if any venues are close enough for me to go. Unless you are familiar with these pubs by name, your website is poor at helping those interested find out what they need to know about the location and how to get there, at the beginning of looking at your info.
You had a change of venue for your 1st night so perhaps you are dealing with some uncertainty about venues. I’m in Lewisham I’ve already missed the one closest to me.
I meditate and love quiet, so attentive, ideal listening is wonderful, but equally, beautiful sound drowning out the cacophony of people enjoying themselves with gusto is a different, appealing way of hearing music.

  • Thanks for the feedback. Our website is quite new and yes, we should probably have clearer address instructions. We will look at changing this. Tonight’s venue is in New Cross so we think quite close to you?
