2013 sees the tercentenary of the Treaty of Utrecht, a series of individual peace treaties that saw the end of the War of the Spanish Succession. At the time, this momumental event in history was marked with a special thanksgiving service in London and Oxford and featured music composed by William Croft. This concert gives audiences the chance to hear Croft’s works, in the space in which they were first performed three hundred years ago, as well as music from Handel’s famous Utrecht Te Deum and the Ode on the Birthday of Queen Anne (‘Eternal source of light divine’).
