Our birthday celebrations reach a climax with this concert performance of Weber’s opera Der Freischütz (The Marksman) – a fusion of folklore, rusticism and magic.

OAE Principal Artist Sir Mark Elder leads the performance of this opera which follows the story of Huntsman Max who makes a pact with the forces of darkness…

Sung in German with English surtitles.

  • It’s the first time Der Freischütz has been performed with this narration, so we don’t know for sure (at least not until we’ve had a few more rehearsals). But it’ll probably finish around 9.45pm.
