Enlightening Education: A Revelation where the music comes first

Welcome to the education and outreach work of the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment. We would like to let you know why we undertake education work, who we work with and the projects that have taken place since Autumn 2008. A range of articles and pictures will take you on a journey to meet the people and partners we work with and give a snapshot of our next steps. We’re delighted to be at our new headquarters at Kings Place and with a wealth of projects planned for 09/10, have joined our new community in the heart of London.

As the UK’s leading period instrument ensemble, we take our inspiration from music of the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries in our education work to form the basis of composition, performance, drama, dance and art projects with a wide range of groups. Through this work we aim to enhance awareness and appreciation of music and encourage creativity and active participation in the arts. We have recently been concentrating on musician and teacher training sessions and creating resource materials to create a legacy of teaching in our partnership schools

From October 2009 - July 2010 were are running a huge year long project based on Haydn's Creation. Have a look at our diary page to see what we're planning and our new creation page to read what we've been doing as part of this project.

Here's a link to our 07 - 09 education brochure which shows all the work we have been doing over the country over the last two years and also a stunning short film by Claudia Lee and some of our Primary School children.
