In July 2008 the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment moved to a brand new Headquarters– the ground-breaking Kings Place development in Kings Cross. The Kings Place development provides a new administrative base for the OAE as well as a 400 seat concert hall, Kings Hall, which the OAE is using for education work, rehearsals and for smaller scale performances. The OAE are resident Orchestra at Kings Hall (while continuing its South Bank Series and residency), together with the London Sinfonietta, who have also moved its administration into the building. Kings Place, designed by architects Dixon Jones, responsible for the National Portrait Gallery extension, is an innovative mixed use development. As well as providing a concert hall, and a home for the OAE and London Sinfonietta, the building houses offices, a sculpture gallery, a restaurant and a coffee bar.
